Boring for the Layman, May Be Useful to Those With Prior Knowledge of Day Trading

The book touches on several different aspects of day trading, including how to make decisions based on the current market, how to protect yourself and your stocks, and discusses how the stock market is a great way to increase wealth—if, of course, you know what you're doing.

This book, for me, was rather boring. While I don't know a great deal about the stock market, I do know a little bit, but I still found that some of the examples in the book fell short in explaining, especially for those with limited or no knowledge. For that reason, I'm not sure this is a good starter book for those looking to break into the stock market or learn the ins and outs.

For those who already know a good deal about day trading and the stock market, this book might prove useful. If you're new to this and looking to break in to the world of day trading, then you may want to read something a little more basic, depending on your current knowledge.

A great book to start with if you are interested in the field

This is a great guide for a person who has minimal knowledge of what the “market” is and day trading. The topic itself is interesting to some and maybe not as much to others so take some of the other reviews with a grain of salt. This book does read like a textbook offering an insight to what the “market” is but the chapters are short, and to the point. It doesn't drone on and on about ambiguous terms. If you are ever feeling lost or don't understand a term there is a glossary at the end of the book with definitions. Mostly, the book covers the key terms, structure, and psychology of trading. Most specific subjects are just touched upon and would need further research for more information (such as writing a business plan, charting/patterns, etc.). At the end of each chapter there is a “quick recap” to cover the key points. If you are interested in this field this is a great book to start with. *I received a sample of this item in return for an honest and unbiased review*

Full disclosure - I knew nothing about the market prior ...

Full disclosure - I knew nothing about the market prior to reading this book. Unfortunately, this book did not spur any further interest in the subject. I found this book very dry and textbook-like with its layout and chapter structure. It does provide a complete glossary for new or unfamiliar terms and this did help.

I wish this book had been a little easier to read as the information provided was thorough; it really was just hard to get through. This may be more palatable to someone who has a slight background in the information, however small. I think that a bit of pre-information or prior knowledge in the subject would have helped me immensely in reading this.

Hit Hard- A Joyfully Recommended Title

When Viva Fiori agreed to take a priceless Thai artifact from the archeological dig she was working on to the Thai government, she never expected that the train she was traveling on would be held up. Or that former Marine, and now Dragon One member, Sam Wyatt would come to her rescue. Only in rescuing Viva, Sam draws her into even deeper trouble. From the moment Sam and Viva meet, the chemistry between them was overpowering. Now they find themselves falling for each other while Sam must protect Viva from the enemies that seem to be everywhere.

Amy J. Fetzer just keeps getting better. She hooked me with Naked Truth, which introduced the whole Dragon One team. In Hit Hard Amy Fetzer effortlessly combines passion and action to create a story that left me dreading the last page and anxiously anticipating the next Dragon One installment. The characterization of Viva and Sam is so extremely well written, the action non-stop and the passion so vividly sensual that if you don't pick up a copy of Hit Hard today you are missing one of the best books of the summer, perhaps even of the year.

What a disappointment!

This book had all the ingredients of a thrilling ride and I'm still shaking my head in puzzlement. The start was confusing and though I read the first four chapters twice, I still found it vague and convoluted. Having loved Naked Truth, I was so pleased to discover an auto-buy at last. That elation was short-lived after I found Perfect Weapon rather mediocre. Now, with Hit Hard, Fetzer has become an auto-avoid. A pity, indeed, as the types of stories she writes are exactly what I like.

What was wrong for me in Hit Hard? Perhaps I wasn't ready for the change of tone. I loved the edgy, serious tone of Naked Truth but Hit Hard came dangerously close to chick lit. Since I love the romance-adventure genre, the thought of agents, weapons and gems together in one story was irresistible and Hit Hard should have been a hit with me. Unfortunately, it was simply messy and pretentious. Like Fetzer was Trying Too Hard.

Fetzer also needs to get her facts right when she writes about foreign locations. She mentions Hindi being spoken by the Sri Lankan soldiers when they would have been speaking Sinhala (the other main language being Tamil, which the Tamil Tigers would be speaking). Hindi is not a major language of Sri Lanka but of Northern India and the Sri Lankan army would not be speaking that. I would have excused these minor mistakes (though inexcusable in the age of Google and Wikipedia) but not the way the plot was handled. The suspense was subsumed by the overly-complicated goings-on, the characters had no chance to develop and whatever romance there was meant to be never quite became romantic.

About the Author
Fred C. Lunenburg is Professor and Senior Research Fellow in the Center for Research and Doctoral Studies in Educational Leadership at Sam Houston University. Prior to moving to university teaching, he served as a high school principal and superintendent of schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He has authored or co-authored 18 books, including THE PRINCIPALSHIP (with Beverly Irby), published by Wadsworth Cengage Learning.

Beverly Irby is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at Sam Houston State University. She has authored numerous publications.

RUN, don't walk, to another class

I was forced to use this book as part of my Educational Leadership program at UHCL. If it was possible to have given a zero star rating, I would have done so. The material is dry, and it seems that every paragraph presented contains a reference to another journal. It is as if the authors were afraid to have an original thought. The authors fail to present or integrate their personal experiences to bring depth to the conversation. Fortunately, the semester I took this class I had an actual campus Principal who was able to engage in real discussions about what the Principalship was like.

If you are taking a class on campus using this book, and the prof has not been a school principal, RUN to the drop/add location and get into another section. If this book is the only reference you have, you will not get the picture of the principalship that you need.

This book is listed as being hardcover by Amazon and I paid a hefty price for it. However, when it arrived, it was NOT hardcover. The only reason I'm keeping it is because I need it for a graduate class.

About the Author
Peter Smith is the author of Hypnoenergetics – The Four Dimensions and the Founder of the Institute of Energetic Transformation, an organization founded to contribute to the evolution of human consciousness through Hypnoenergetics. Peter is a practicing Hypnotherapist in Melbourne Australia, and has held many roles in the industry over the years from teacher, mentor, presenter and leader of various groups and Associations. He is an advocate for healing through Hypnotherapy and travels widely to discuss and teach the remarkable craft of Hypnoenergetics. He is a practicing Life Between Lives Hypnotherapist and was trained and certified in the USA by The Michael Newton Institute (TNI). He has trained therapists for them in the USA, UK, Europe and Australia. In 2005 Peter worked with others to evolve the previous organization into The Michael Newton Institute as it is today. He travels globally to promote the work of The Institute and is one of the co-authors of “Memories of the Afterlife”. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from Sydney University, a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training from Swinburne University, is accredited for the MBTI instrument levels I and II through Australian Psychologists Press. Peter is the author of "Kate Becomes a Manager", a self help book for new leaders, Peter spent over two decades in Executive leadership in one of Australia's largest companies, before moving on to follow his dream of making a unique contribution to the evolution of the consciousness of humankind, through the power of Hypnotherapy.
