Loss of Freedom

My wife and I decided to give this a try. Using the methods in this book she has successfully taken control of my manhood. It is as if she owns the gear now. I can't say that I don't enjoy it. But my wife is REALLY having a good time with this. So much so that she has commented that I will be permanently locked up for the rest of my life!

It is filled with practical teachings on the most basic and important skills to survive comfortably off the grid, off the land and in the wilderness. A must read for anyone desiring to learn how to live independently of this crumbling world system.

A good, informative book - Digital Kindle Version

This was a well thought out, well written, and informative book. The information contained within its pages, although dated, is incredibly useful. I found the portion regarding navigation the most informative.

As other reviewers have noted, some sections are rather long winded. Most notable in the long winded area was snow shoes. While undoubtedly the author was in a position in which snow shoes would be necessary, that section didn't pertain to my needs or interests, so I glossed over it rather quickly.

I really enjoyed that the original illustrations were included in the digital version. That is something that is greatly lacking in other digital reproductions of different books in the wood/bushcraft genre.

Overall this was a great book that I will definitely be reading again to pick up any missed information. I wanted to give this book 4.5 stars, but I can't, so 4 stars it is.

Great Information, Formatting Issues

The spreads suggested by this book are interesting and useful. Katz and Goodwin have a flair for looking at readings in new and inspiring ways, while avoiding dogmatic meanings. I wish some of the explanations had been a little longer (with some sample readings) for some of the spreads, but content wise, that's my only complaint. The issue that prevented a 4 or 5 star rating is the formatting. My kindle e-book is missing several illustrations and photographs cover text in some cases making it impossible to read the information. This issue was consistent on both my computer and my Kindle. I hope these issues are corrected in further editions of the e-book as this is actually a great resource for creative readings.
