Christopher Alexander was a revolutionary thinker who produced a series of seminal works offering a new vision of community, architecture and the built environment.
Although written about architecture, his Pattern Language is a sort of bible among the highest level of web designers. His concept of inter-dependant modules is now how most large scale code projects are conceived.
Earlier books in this series are; The Natural Way of Building, the epic Pattern Language, The production of Houses, The Oregon Experiment (describing Alexander's planning applied to a large public institution), and Das Linz Cafe, his most accessible, and applicable description of a single, temporary building Alexander was commissioned to build for the Linz Design Expo. Reading this out of print book is a clear illustration of Alexander's thinking and proceess play out in the real world.
