Highly recommend, with a caveat

To be clear, the book is beautiful to behold and well written, much more than just a coffee table 'art' book...but I found that by
including in it's scope both pulp art (Doc Savage was only ever marginally a comic character) and paperback books, it skimped in areas more directly related to comics. We all love Norman Saunders, but his work is exhaustively dealt with elsewhere...While I was happy to see a chapter devoted to Western publishing covers, I felt they really gave short shrift to what really was some of the most iconic work in the genre of painted comics (ie Turok, Boris Karloff, Twilight Zone, Doctor Spektor, Magnus)...could have a whole chapter just devoted to Mo Gollub's Tarzan covers! And what about horror? There was more than just Warren back in the day! Skywald and Eerie Publications featured some astonishing and lurid painted cover art in the 70s, deserved at least a mention. There is a lot of modern stuff in here, and I know the subject matter is so deep that it would be tough to meet the expectations of all fans, but to me the 'Golden Age' of painted comic cover art (60s and 70s) didn't get the coverage I was hoping for...nonetheless, a lovely book, I'm glad I bought it...

Not well researched

A missed opportunity.

As posted by the previous reviewer, this book doesn't spread it's subject matter equally. Also the research is poor.

I paged through the book and while it does have some great work represented, it skips important contributions and doesn't even get the art represented right. I was surprised (and delighted) to see Bama's work represented but there was a Doc Savage cover that is NOT Bama's but is credited to him. At that point I closed the book and put it back on the shelf. More work needs to be done to make this a must by.

Great set of patterns (8) for small blankies that could easily be enlarged to full-size baby blankets, lap robes, or afghans. Suitable for beginning knitters with a couple of more challenging patterns included. Patterns all use worsted weight yarn (generic weights and yardages are given rather than specific brands) and could be knit with any yarn from big box acrylics to washable wools or blends to luxury yarns.

The book traces the evolution of modern IP law, which it claims is marked heavily both by ‘over-protectionist’ trends – such as the extension of copyright law to technological fields, where it trespasses on the territory of patent law – and by attempts to monopolize the achievements of basic research, such as in the example of biotechnology. Through an examination of such emerging issues as access to standards of information and patenting of genetic materials, the author makes a clear case for a reading of IP law that promotes dynamic processes of ‘innovation by competition’, and ‘competition by innovation’, with related benefits to consumer welfare such as wider choices, greater access to culture and information, and lower prices.

Good short read!

A well written short story. I only noticed one error and that didn't really affect the flow of the story so I am not going to mark it down for that. The only reason I took off a star is because the ending seemed too rushed - would have liked a little more drama involved.
If you are looking for a quick clean read then you will probably enjoy this. If you want to know what it is about then you will have to read it for yourself (it won't take you that long) because I don't believe in retelling the storyline in my reviews.

The is a wonderful short HEA you can read in a wait at the doctors office. It's a story of the young love of Sydney & Mitch that had a continuous summer romance until Sydney left Mitch at the alter. Now years later they meet again. Wow, do they meet again. The tension & hormones are high but so worth the read to find out. I got to read it for free so that was even better.

this was a good story about second chances. It was a little rushed at times (which I feel is the downfall with many short stories), but it was still a strong story. You understood the characters as they are and feel the connection. A good lunch hour read.
